Three Years

3 years. 1095 days. That’s how long some people get in jail for ruining women’s lives.

It’s too bad that survivors can’t ‘overturn’ their lifetime sentences of pain, humiliation and anger after three years.

It’s too bad that their memory banks can’t be purged of the atrocities waged against them after three years.

Three years is nothing. It’s paltry. It’s pathetic. It’s a lighter sentence than many people get for smoking pot, for shoplifting. Not for killing a woman’s heart and soul, leaving her with those scars that just won’t heal.

And the sad thing is, three years is a longer sentence than many sexual assailants ever serve.

Still and all, survivors can take comfort in the fact that there are so many people who love and support them — forever. Not just for three years.

And, while I’m not a religious woman nor am I betting one, I wager that — when someone is condemned to hell for their intolerable acts against humanity — they won’t be freed after three years.

William Henry Cosby and Allison Christin Mack. We know what you did. You’ll never overturn the feelings of rage, hatred and indignation that we harbor in our hearts against you.

May you both rot in hell. And not just for three years.
