We Won’t Forget This: No Pardon and No Forgiveness for Matt Bevin

The story resounds again and again through the airwaves of news channels, the pages of newspapers, the echoes of radio shows and podcasts. But still, it’s unbelievable. And above all, it’s infuriating.

After being soundly defeated in the Kentucky governor’s race, former governor/current scum of the earth Matt Bevin retreated from office with his tail between his legs and pardons for hardened criminals between his fingers. To be more specific, he pardoned more than 600 prisoners in his state — including a fellow walking scumbag, Micah Schoettle, who was convicted of raping a 9 year old girl.

His excuse? He said the girl, like many sexual assault victims, was still walking around with a hymen. And you, Matt Bevin, are walking around without a heart or a brain.

The mother of the survivor, according to news outlet WYMT, says that her daughter — who bravely testified for hours in order to bring her assailant to justice — will have to return to counseling because of this atrocity of a decision. Well this warrior angel needs to know that we have got her back and are in her corner.

And Matt Bevin needs to know that we will not forget.

Just try to run for another public office. We’ll be there at the voting booth, voting for your opponent. Just try to start a business. No one will show up, unless they’re carrying picket signs or fliers for rival businesses in your field. Just try to get hired as a political consultant or commentator. We’ll be flooding the media corporation that hires you with calls and letters of protest.

And that goes double for you, Micah Schoettle.

The now 14-year-old survivor continues to endure the effects of the multiple crimes against her, and now she feels unsafe. Reportedly, she told her mother, “It figures. They always get away with it.”

No, you precious person, they won’t. We’ll make sure of it. You now have an army of supporters and admirers who have your back. We are a peaceable army who will fight with words, protesting, voting against and voting with our wallets against the scum that hurt you — and the creep who let the convicted perpetrator walk free.

For them, there will be no pardon.
